Top Ten City of Modesto Code Violations

  1. Junk Accumulation
  2. Weeds Vegetation (Overgrown and Dry)
  3. Alley Violations – Trash and garbage.
  4. Vacant Lots
  5. Dumping of any kind is prohibited
  6. Living in: Campers, Trailers, Vehicles, or Tents
  7. Signs (in commercial locations)
  8. Illegal Home Business
  9. Garage/Yard Sales (too many) –One can only have 2 garage sales per year on the same property. As such, the yard sales may only last three days consecutively.
  10. Animal and Fowl (too many and not permitted) – Al l animals must have a license tag that is displayed and must stay on their property. All animals that are not household pets should be kept in pens, coops, or cages. There shall be no more than they listed number of animals per home:
  • 2 dogs five months of age
  • 3 cats three months of age
  • 12 other domestic fowls
  • No roosters or chickens
